Seclusion & Restraint Reduction
Robert
Lee Sutherland Seminar XIII - Publication & CD
The Hogg Foundation
for Mental Health used the guidelines and other materials presented
and developed during the Thirteenth Robert Lee Sutherland Seminar
to produce a publication and companion CD.
Particularly
noteworthy are the restraint scenarios and teaching questions provided
in the publication and CD, which used jointly make an invaluable
training tool. Eight scenarios with accompanying teaching questions
are included in the publication. Seven of the eight scenarios as
well as an introduction by the Foundation's executive director,
Dr. King Davis, are represented on the CD as video clips. The scenario
entitled "Juvenile Justice Pre-Adjudication Facility" in the publication
is the only scenario that does not have a corresponding video clip.
Other useful
resources and information in the publication include:
Presentation by keynote speaker Mr. Lloyd Bullard of the Child
Welfare League of America
Seminar proceedings
Summary of relevant Texas statutes and regulations
Sample forms, including a trauma assessment, safety form, and
health care proxy
