Advancing Integrated Health Care in Texas
Robert Lee Sutherland Seminar XV
Hosted by the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health
September 8 - 9, 2008
Austin, Texas
Research shows that physical and behavioral health are intertwined. When symptoms of one are treated without considering the other, a person is less likely to achieve health – often with physical, emotional and financial costs to the individual, the health care provider and the larger health care system.
A growing body of evidence demonstrates that integrating, or systematically coordinating, physical and mental health care to treat the whole person has significant medical, economic and political benefits.
This conference will bring together stakeholders from across Texas to explore the substantial research and emerging science that support this forward-thinking approach to improving physical and mental health.
Conference attendees will:
Learn the principles of integrated health care and how it's being
accomplished in Texas
and other states.
Find out how integrating health care in Texas can benefit employers,
insurers, health
care providers and consumers.
Share ideas and opinions at planning workshops on how to promote integrated
health care in Texas.
