The Frances Fowler Wallace Memorial for Mental Health
Dissertation Award provides partial support for an
outstanding doctoral student's dissertation research on "the cause
and treatment, cure, and prevention of mental disease, mental
illness, and mental disorders" as designated by Mrs. Wallace in
her will.
Doctoral students conducting dissertation research related to mental health at The University of Texas at Austin are eligible to apply for the award. The award is administered by the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health.
The award provides up to $1,500 to support research-related expenses such as survey mailings, software, participant stipends and training. Award recipients must provide a copy of the final dissertation to the foundation.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the award:
• Plan to conduct a rigorous dissertation that advances the donor's wishes to “research
and study the cause, treatment, cure and prevention of mental disease, mental illness
and mental disorders.”
• Have successfully defended their dissertation proposal by the time of application.
Application Deadline & Notice of Awards
The deadline for this year's submissions was 1:00 p.m. Central Standard Time (CST) on Friday, Nov. 13, 2009. Notice of awards will be made in December 2009.
