Hogg Foundation Seeks Proposals to Fund Mental Health Research in Texas

AUSTIN, Texas – Tenure-track assistant professors at institutions of higher education in Texas are eligible to apply for mental health research grants of up to $15,000 each from the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health.

Projects may focus on any aspect of mental health, including promotion, prevention, early intervention, treatment or workforce-related concerns. Examples of eligible academic disciplines include psychology, educational psychology, counseling psychology, clinical psychology, human development, behavioral health, social work, sociology, nursing, public health, law and public policy.

Proposals are due Jan. 14, 2010. Notice of awards will be made by the end of February 2010. Details about the grant application process and requirements are online at www.hogg.utexas.edu.

The Hogg Foundation was founded in 1940 by the children of former Texas Governor James Hogg to promote improved mental health for the people of Texas. The foundation's grants and programs support mental health consumer services, research, policy analysis and public education projects in Texas. The foundation is part of the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement at The University of Texas at Austin.
