Training Event: “Creating a Culture of Care: Implementing Trauma‐ Informed Practices to Reduce Seclusion and Restraint.”

Texas Network of Youth Services (TNOYS) and the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health are co-hosting a 1.5‐day training seminar on trauma‐informed systems of care led by national experts addressing the “how to” of reducing the use of seclusion and restraint. The event will be held in Houston on January 9 and 10 and in Austin on January 11 and 12, 2012.
Facilitation of an action planning process guiding residential treatment centers in setting meaningful goals/steps for organizational change will be included as part of the training. A technical assistance plan will direct follow‐up support to participating centers. There will be a process and application for then selecting approximately 10 residential treatment centers to receive ongoing intensive support following the workshop and will include clear buy‐in at the highest levels, demonstrated openness to change, and include the involvement of current and former residents as well as family members. Presenters include Beth Caldwell, Kevin Ann Huckshorn and Janice LeBel.
