Priority Issues
The Foundation
focuses on three priority issues that were identified through a
strategic planning process, in which the Foundation consulted extensively
with state and national stakeholders to identify the best use of
its resources.
The three priority
issues that were identified through that planning process are integrated
mental and physical health care, culturally competent mental health
service delivery, and mental health workforce development.
Integrated
Health Care
The Foundation has launched a grant program and is addressing policy issues related to improving the detection and treatment of mental health problems in primary care settings.
Cultural
Competence
The Cultural Adaptation grant program is focused on understanding how evidence-based mental health practices need to be modified to be consistent with the cultures of populations of color.
Workforce
Development
The
Foundation recently held a conference to highlight the key mental
health workforce issues facing Texas, and is now looking into approaches
to address these critical problems.
